Growing up in St. Louis, MO, Justin Hayward started making movies with his stepfather’s video camera when he was eleven years old. Throughout high school he wrote and directed movies with his friends and family before attending film school at the Southern Illinois University.
After film school, Hayward shot numerous shorts, music videos and independent feature films as a director of photography before taking the leap into directing. His short film “Divorce Lemonade” was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival and won several awards at other film festivals before being picked up for online distribution by Cinetic Media. He is the recipient of the IFP production fund grant for his short film “No Saving Seats” and his award-winning short film, “Tiny’s New Home” was an official selection of the Toronto Film Festival.
Justin’s commercial work includes spots for Kmart, Eastman Outdoors, Illinois Office of Tourism, Fleetmatics, Tork and other brands.
With three young kids, Justin and his wife Amie spend most of their free time watching Pixar movies in the home theater or BBQ-ing in the backyard, with an occasional trip to Disney World sprinkled in.
